Andrew is working with artists and producers to help find and craft their unique sound.

A musician at heart, Andrew is also an Audio Post and Sound Design professional and he's quite happy to providing audio production services for any type of project.

When Andrew and family were finally able to make their longtime dream of living in Bend come true in 2021, he contacted Clay at SoundSmith Studios.

“Before our move I was looking at all the studios in Bend, and SoundSmith seemed to have the kind of studio layout I’d be able to work in right away.  Plus he’s had Robert Plant and Jack Johnson in the studio…”

A brief history of music in Andrew’s life:

“I started playing guitar in 1983 after a friend played Van Halen’s first record for me.  It was on cassette, actually, and I think I wore that thing out in a single night playing side 1 over and over.  The next morning I asked my dad if he could show me something on his guitar… he showed me Mary Had A Little Lamb…”

After a couple years of non-stop guitar playing, and in spite of Mary and her Little Lamb, Andrew knew that music would be a big part of his life from then on. During his late-teens and early twenties Andrew began playing in local studios on recording projects.  A bandmate in one of these projects was already a proper recording engineer and was just getting hired at a fantastic local studio….

“My friend got hired at the studio and I got a part-time job at the local grocery store a half-block away.  We basically lived at the studio from that moment on – working on sessions during the day and recording music at night.”

Two-and-a-half years as an intern (of sorts) earned him a job as the first full-time assistant engineer at that studio. Here, Andrew was given an incredible opportunity to learn microphone technique and how to work with acoustic spaces for recording. He worked there for more than twenty years, eventually becoming chief audio engineer.

“I am SO grateful to have had the chance to find my career - and then grow into it - at a truly great recording studio.”
